Lakers Big Man Likely Done for the Season After Undergoing Knee Procedure

A key Los Angeles Lakers role player may be out for the remainder of the 2023-24 regular season.

Power forward/center Christian Wood is set to undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left knee, extending his already month-long absence.

The 28-year-old is expected to be sidelined for several more weeks, per league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

With the Lakers' final regular-season game scheduled for April 14 against the New Orleans Pelicans on the road, Wood may have played his last game this season.

Wood last played on February 14 against the Utah Jazz, where he had two points on 1-of-5 shooting from the field, adding four boards and one dime.

The 6-foot-8 player has maintained decent averages of 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 50 games this season.

Wood's last game for the purple-and-gold franchise could be a possibility, considering he is on a two-year deal with a player option at the end of the current campaign.

If the former UNLV big man receives a more lucrative offer in the offseason, he may choose that instead.

The Lakers are in the play-in range with a 37-32 record and could potentially miss the playoffs.
