The San Antonio Spurs will be without two of their most important players for the remaining seven games of the 2023-24 regular season.

The team announced that wing Devin Vassell and power forward Jeremy Sochan will be shut down for the campaign due to injuries.

Vassell was absent from the Spurs' last game against the Golden State Warriors at home on Sunday, March 31. The team narrowly lost 117-113.

Following this, the 23-year-old underwent an MRI on Monday, April 1, which revealed a stress reaction to the third metatarsal head in his right foot.

On the other hand, Sochan initially injured his left ankle in the first half of their home game against the New York Knicks last Friday, March 29, which resulted in an exciting 130-126 win in overtime.

After consulting with medical experts, the Spurs have decided that arthroscopic surgery is the most suitable course of action for the 20-year-old.

Devin Vasell and Jeremy Sochan averaged career highs this season

Both players have achieved career highs in most of their statistical categories this season.

Vassell, a fourth-year player, averaged 19.5 points and 4.1 assists per game, demonstrating significant improvement.

Meanwhile, Sochan, in his second season, recorded averages of 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

Additionally, the Polish-American's durability is noteworthy, as he played in all of the Spurs' first 74 games before missing the recent game against the Warriors due to his injury.
