The New York Knicks defeated the Charlotte Hornets 115-91.

The New York Knicks encountered yet another injury setback as they progressed through the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

On Tuesday, May 8, the team announced that the 26-year-old big man sustained a stress injury to his left ankle.

Robinson will undergo re-evaluation in six to eight weeks, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the postseason should the Knicks advance to the next rounds.

The 7-foot big man initially sustained damage to his left ankle during Game 3 of their first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers when Sixers star Joel Embiid inadvertently stepped on it during a shot attempt.

Although he missed Game 4 of the series due to the injury, Robinson managed to participate in all subsequent Knicks games before the diagnosis was made.

Mitchell Robinson joins long Knicks injury list

Robinson's injury adds to the list of injuries to key players for the Knicks, which has been a significant concern.

Star forward Julius Randle has been sidelined since January 27 and was ruled out for the remainder of the season last month after undergoing surgery for a left shoulder injury.

Additionally, it was announced at the end of April that forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending surgeries to repair foot and wrist injuries. The Croatian shooter has provided the team with an additional reliable scoring option during his time on the court.
