Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany, shared an interesting detail about her NFL fandom history.

The 28-year-old former professional soccer player initially talked about one of the couple's two dogs, Steel.

"I actually got Steel when I was in college. Patrick bought him for me for a Valentine's Day gift when I was a junior," the NWSL team Kansas City co-owner shared.

Brittany then dropped the bombshell that she grew up as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"So, I actually used to be a Steelers fan and that's how I got the name Steel, so that's a great story," the Texas native added.

The Steelers share the same AFC conference as the Chiefs but play in the AFC North, while the reigning Super Bowl champions are in the AFC West.

Brittany Mahomes considers dogs as part of their family

The Mahomes family's love for dogs is apparent as they consider their two pets, Steel and Silver, one of their own.

"I mean, they're basically our children. I consider us having four kids," Mahomes explained.

The couple also has two children: a daughter, Sterling Skye, and a son, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon, who are 3 and 1 year old, respectively.
