The Boston Celtics are expected to perform above everyone's expectations with their dominant regular season performance and strong roster. However, their attempt to defend the NBA championship was instantly spoiled when the New York Knicks beat them in the playoffs, 4-2.

With the way things are going for the organization, not to mention the torn Achilles of their superstar Jayson Tatum, the Celtics might make a huge move next season- and that means giving up their championship roster for a badly-needed reset.

Boston Celtics Roster Movement is Inevitable

On The Pat McAfee Show, ESPN's Shams Charania verified that the Celtics are set to make major roster changes. According to the reporter, the team is going to make a lot of trades and there will be a "much different roster" next season.

Charania explained that although Jayson Tatum, the franchise face, is off-limits, almost every other player might be on the table for the appropriate bid. That list includes superstars such as Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis.

Jaylen Brown Trade Rumors: Houston and San Antonio in the Mix

In our previous NBA trade rumor report, Boston would not reportedly trade either Tatum or Brown despite the ownership change. Well, that was before the playoffs.

Among all of Boston's trade assets, Jaylen Brown is the largest trade chip. The All-Star frontcourt player Brown has shown he can carry the offense when Tatum is out, making him a strong appeal for those looking for a cornerstone piece.

Two top contenders that might become a factor. One of them is the Houston Rockets, which has a youthful roster. According to CBS Sports, the Texas-based team might trade a package comprising Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, and future first-round picks (2025, 2027).

Another possibility of trade talks could also involve the San Antonio Spurs. With the No. 2 pick in the next draft and cornerstone players such as Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, and Jeremy Sochan, the Spurs possess the resources to make a serious bid.

Jrue Holiday Attracting Contender Interest

Jrue Holiday, a playoff-tested veteran and shutdown defender, might also be in motion. His two-way ability and leadership make him an asset to title hopefuls. A team to monitor is the Dallas Mavericks, particularly if Kyrie Irving doesn't pick up his player option.

If Irving stays, Dallas will lose interest in Holiday. But if Irving leaves, Holiday might slip into a convenient backcourt complement for Spencer Dinwiddie.

Kristaps Porzingis Will Most Likely Be Traded

Though Jaylen Brown would demand the largest return, Kristaps Porzingis may be the most likely to be traded. With only one season remaining on his deal, Porzingis offers an attractive rental for teams in need of frontcourt assistance.

Two possible suitors for the Latvian center include the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic. The Dubs would appreciate Porzingis' interior defense and stretch shooting. Given that their small-ball approach did not work in the playoffs, Porzingis could make a big change to the rotation.

Meanwhile, Orlando needs a big man to pair with Paolo Banchero, and the Porzingis–Wendell Carter Jr. trade would suit both teams.
