The Green Bay Packers shook things up on Monday by releasing star cornerback Jaire Alexander, closing the book on a seven-year era with one of the league's best defenders.

Although Alexander's ability is undeniable, injury issues have kept him on the field for just an average of seven games over the last two seasons. Nevertheless, when he's healthy, he's a shutdown corner that can move the needle on any defense.

Now a free agent, Alexander becomes one of the most compelling names available. Despite injury worries, a few franchises might welcome his prodigious coverage ability, particularly with training camp on the horizon.

Here are five perfect teams that might sign Alexander and strengthen their secondary.

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals possess a young defense but do not have a shutdown corner. Jaire Alexander, paired with rookie sensation Will Johnson, would instantly upgrade the Cardinals' defensive backfield. Indeed, Alexander might be the team's number-one cornerback by training camp's end. The Cardinals' scheme would enable him to play to his strengths without shouldering the entire load.

Buffalo Bills

According to FTW, the Buffalo Bills are also interested in Alexander before his release, making them a natural fit. Although first-round pick Maxwell Hairston is the future answer, Alexander's experience and grit could make him an instant impact player. A one-year "prove-it" contract would suit both parties as the Bills try to remain competitive in a rugged AFC.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia is clearly lacking in secondary depth, and trading Jaire Alexander to the Eagles is ideal football. He would immediately vie for a starting spot across from rookie Quinyon Mitchell and create one of the most physical secondaries in the NFC. And Miami DB coach Cameron Lewis worked with Alexander in Green Bay — a connection which might ease the transition.

Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are making some defensive moves, such as Jalen Ramsey reportedly being on the trade block. With Joe Barry, formerly of the Packers DC, coaching in Miami now, Jaire Alexander would have a similar system and coaching philosophy. He would be able to take over for the number one cornerback spot in Miami with ease and gain an advantage from the team's scheme being defensive-driven.

New Orleans Saints

Although not in the mix early on, the New Orleans Saints may be a sleeper option. Their secondary has struggled with inconsistency and injuries. Alexander would provide leadership and playmaking potential to a unit that could use both. His presence might also serve to mentor up younger corners as the Saints look toward a return to the playoffs.
