WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is retreating from the spotlight once more, but this time, it's to put something much more important than the ring first: his health.

The 16-time World Champion made public that he is canceling a scheduled meet-and-greet in Mississippi following some medical guidance to skip travel due to his current fight against skin cancer.

Melanoma Diagnosis Compels Flair to Press Pause

Flair, 76, announced to fans in a sincere message on social media early Monday morning: "I have a lot of health issues that I need to attend to. "

He added, "I have procrastinated putting my health first in the past."

The wrestling icon, also referred to as "The Nature Boy," has just been diagnosed with melanoma for the second time in three years. Melanoma is a dangerous skin cancer that cannot be ignored—something Flair is finally taking seriously. In his post, he made no bones about expressing that this is "nothing to play with."

Event Organizers Confirm Doctor's Orders

Southern Sky Brands, the cannabis farm that hosted the fan event, also issued a statement confirming the cancellation. As spotted by TMZ Sports, the company said that Flair's physicians have sternly advised against traveling and have encouraged the wrestling legend to concentrate solely on his recovery.

Although fans were likely excited to see the WWE Hall of Famer, the event couldn't push through if Flair appeared sick before the crowd. The show, in conjunction with promoting the Ric Flair Drip cannabis brand, has been canceled indefinitely.

A Long History of Health Struggles

This is not the first time Ric Flair has fought against medical complications. In 2017, Flair was put into a medically induced coma when he experienced multiple organ failures, a close brush with death that stunned the wrestling community. Most recently in 2023, Flair had heart surgery to have a pacemaker implanted, adding to his extensive list of medical issues, according to Men's Journal.

Despite these obstacles, Flair has continued to stay busy on the public scene, showing up at events and even suggesting possible business pursuits. Yet this most recent health issue has brought the wrestling legend back down to earth to re-evaluate his priorities.

Flair Promises to Return to Fans—Eventually

In his message to fans, Flair hoped to get in touch with them soon. He closed his remarks with gratitude and hope, stating that he is looking forward to maintaining the success of the Ric Flair Drip company when he's standing again.
