In a nod to the infamous Pipebomb promo CM Punk did in 2011, John Cena stunned WWE fans by delivering his own version on SmackDown last Friday.

One of the things that shocked many fans is Cena's mention of three former WWE stars, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, and Zack Ryder.

The three wrestling stars now go by their real names—Claudio Castagnoli, Nic Nemeth, and Mac Cardona, respectively.

In the days following the Pipebomb promo, it seems some fans may have figured out why Cena chose to mention those three names.

Why Cesaro, Ziggler, and Ryder?

According to a report by Sportskeeda, many fans believe that it is highly likely that Cena chose them due to an interview CM Punk did in 2013.

Sportskeeda has pointed out that in the interview CM Punk did during a WrestleMania 29 press event, he was wearing a Cesaro shirt. He likewise namedropped both Ziggler and Ryder in the interview.

During the interview, Punk took a shot at the Cena vs. The Rock main event of that year's WrestleMania.

It is now believed that Cena's mention of their names in his Pipebomb interview is meant to be a reference to that interview.

Cardona, Chelsea Green React to Pipebomb

Cardona, who now works as a freelance wrestler, has since taken to social media to react to being mentioned in Cena's Pipebomb. He likewise gave a shoutout to Cena during his recent appearance with Game Changer Wrestling.

Cardona's wife, WWE star Chelsea Green, has also reacted to the promo.
