Former UFC heavyweight king Jon Jones reveals that he's most likely to return to the Octagon for the first time in what might be one of the most gossipy fight cards in MMA history, held at the White House.
No date has been officially set, but UFC President Dana White has just announced that he intends to sit down with Donald Trump and discuss the details for hosting a future UFC event on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. According to Jones, there's a good chance that he will be on the card.
Jon Jones and the Trump Connection
In an interview with TMZ Sports, when walking through LAX, Jones said he has a "strong feeling" that he will fight at Trump's UFC event.
"That's the goal. We haven't had a conversation about it, but I have a very strong feeling that I'll be fighting that night, for sure."
Jones, one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, is also a publicly known supporter of the former president. The fighter was seen exchanging an autograph for a MAGA hat during the airport interview, showing his support for Trump's role with the UFC as well.
The 38-year-old formally retired from mixed martial arts back in June, but the potential to fight at a historic event like this may be enough to coax him out of retirement for one more fight.
Star-Studded, Patriotic Fight Night
Though the concept of a UFC card at the White House may seem outlandish, it's proof of Trump's longstanding relationships with Dana White and the UFC.
Trump has been to numerous events, and White never shied away from saying how much respect he had for the former president. If this event comes to fruition, reportedly eyeing July 4, 2026, it may become one of the most uniquely American events in sports history.
Jones would not be the first high-profile name to comment on the possible card. UFC light heavyweight hopeful Khalil Rountree also offered his opinion on the proposed White House show in a different interview at LAX.
According to the current No. 4 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings, it would take a giant check for him to fight outside. He said he'd love to see Jon Jones top the card.
Will Dana White Allow Jones to Fight at Trump Event?
In another report by MMA Fighting, Dana White said that "he's not contemplating matchmaking" for Jones yet because the event is still a year away. From his words, White might have already concluded that Jones' wish to fight at Trump's event won't be possible in 2026.
