Former WWE Women's Champion Ronda Rousey has been a force to be reckoned with in professional wrestling for years. She, however, has not hesitated to reveal her frustrations while working with WWE under Vince McMahon.
Although Rousey was huge in the ring, life inside WWE wasn't without frustration for her. Now that Rousey clarified that she's focused on retirement, but is still looking back on what she's been through and what the future holds for her.
Ronda Rousey's Last WWE Match
Ronda Rousey's latest WWE outing was at SummerSlam 2023 in Detroit, where she was defeated by Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules Match. Since then, Rousey has made a few return appearances for Wrestling Revolver and ROH, but has remained inactive from the ring since.
In an interview last week with Yahoo! Sports' Raj Prashad, Rousey answered that she thinks her wrestling days are officially done.
I really have no reason to go back. I wanted to do a run with the Four Horsewomen, and I never got to do that. And now I feel like I've already accomplished everything that I wanted to in WWE, and all that's really left for me is to go there and have fun with my friends, and none of my friends are there anymore.
Ronda Did Not Filter Her WWE Experience
Rousey wasn't afraid to provide an unfiltered assessment of her WWE experience. The "Baddest Woman on the Planet" characterized her behind-the-scenes experience as crazy and anxiety-ridden via Sports Illustrated. She openly criticized the company's internal operation.
Possible Moves Outside WWE
With her WWE career now behind her, Rousey was asked if she would consider joining another wrestling promotion, such as AEW, alongside her former MMA colleagues.
While WWE fans are familiar with the Four Horsewomen—Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Ronda herself- Rousey leads her own MMA-inspired version, which includes Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir. Although Baszler and Shafir have made an impact in wrestling, neither is currently with WWE.
Shafir has found success in AEW as one of Jon Moxley's stablemates in the Death Riders, while Baszler became a free agent after WWE released her last May. Rousey praised Shafir's recent performances in AEW but expressed no interest in joining her in the promotion.
Ronda realized she has two daughters now, and focusing more on her family is the priority. She doesn't see herself traveling with the company again.
