Two signs that the writing is on the wall about an NFL coach's job security: reports have surfaced about your replacement and your public relations team is omitting parts of your news conference relating to your job.
Awfulannouncing.com tracked MLive reporter Kyle Meinke's Twitter account in which he revealed that the Detroit Lions' team transcript of Sunday's news conference following the Lions' 23-20 overtime loss to the New York Giants was suspiciously of reporters' questions and coach Jim Schwartz's answers about his job stats.

"Lions coach Jim Schwartz was asked once about his job status, once about speculation. Neither response included on team-issued transcript.
"Schwartz was asked about direction of organization, and that response was included."
Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch jumped in on the Twitter conversation, saying, "Which creates another story. Not smart. MT @kmeinke Lions omitted Qs/As about Jim Schwartz's job status from Stafford presser transcript."
The disappearance of subject matter was followed by reports from both the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News that the Lions already may have contacted former Arizona Cardinals head coach and current San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt about the job Schwartz still has.
Sports World News previously reported that Schwartz was angry with the Lions home crowd during the loss to the Giants. He complained about the fans booing when the Lions let the clock run out in regulation, rather than try to get in field-goal range.
The convergence of events seems to indicate Schwartz's ouster as inevitable after the regular season ends on Sunday. The Lions were eliminated from playoff contention with their loss to the Giants, leaving Schwartz with a 29-50 record in Detroit.
The bigger question could be whether the Lions will offer the reins to Whisenhunt, who led the Cardinals to the Super Bowl during the 2008 season.
