The Dallas Wings officially clinched the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft lottery for the second consecutive season, just a year after getting Paige Bueckers as the 2024's top selection.
At 42% to win, Dallas capitalized again, setting up for another franchise-shifting addition.
Back-to-Back No. 1 Picks Reinforce Dallas' Long-Term Vision

In a report by Associated Press, general manager Curt Miller emphasized the significance of landing yet another top pick, noting how consecutive No. 1 selections can elevate a franchise fast.
"This is an integral piece, a core piece. In recent draft classes you see what consecutive No. 1's can do."
Timing couldn't be better. Dallas recently hired longtime college coach Jose Fernandez, signaling a new beginning that marries up-and-coming talent with seasoned leadership.

WNBA Lottery Results Follow Expected Order
In another report by Sports Illustrated, this year's lottery marked a rare statistical outcome: the draft order matched the exact probability percentages for only the fifth time in league history, and first since 2018.
- Dallas Wings: No. 1
- Minnesota Lynx: No. 2, via Chicago's pick
- Seattle Storm: No. 3
- Washington Mystics: No. 4
- Chicago Sky: No. 5
Last season's best regular-season team, Minnesota, had the benefit of owning Chicago's pick and placed them in a position to draft another high-impact contributor.
Loaded 2025 Draft Class Without a Clear Top Prospect
While last year's draft featured a clear-cut No. 1 in Paige Bueckers, this year presents a competitive pool of elite players. Potential top picks include:
- Lauren Betts (UCLA)
- Azzi Fudd (UConn)
- Flau'jae Johnson (LSU)
- Olivia Miles (TCU)
- Awa Fam (Spain)
Miller praised the class for its "optionality," giving Dallas flexibility to draft for potential, fit, or long-term upside.
Miller said he got more calls this year from teams willing to trade for the top pick, before the lottery results were even revealed. The buzz speaks to the Wings' strong position and the perceived depth of the 2025 class.
Wings player Maddy Siegrist, who represented the franchise at the lottery for a second year in a row, returned fresh from getting married and even meeting the Pope before attending the event in Los Angeles.
