Gabrielle Union is shouldering at least part of the blame for her NBA fiancee stepping out with another woman with whom he now has a newborn son.
In the February issue of Glamour magazine, the 41-year-old actress talks about her life and relationship with Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade and how she will no longer put her career over the man she is engaged to marry later this year.
"Over the summer, I reassessed priorities," she told Glamour. "I'd always wanted an awesome career with back-to-back projects, but I realized I wasn't willing to sacrifice my relationship for it."
Union admits she and Wade briefly split in early 2013 and her work schedule was a huge factor in that decision. "When you're debating whether to go backward or forward, you have to look at the original issue," she told Glamour.
"The breakup was because of distance and scheduling," the star of BET's Being Mary Jane added. "I finished filming the show. Then I flew to Vegas right away to start shooting 'Think Like a Man Too.' I couldn't take time off, and I missed some quality togetherness we desperately needed."
Wade recently confirmed he is the father of Xavier Zechariah Wade, whom he fathered with mother Aja Metoyer. The 31-year-old three-time NBA champion already has two sons from a previous marriage, whom he has full custody of.
"I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy," Wade recently said of his young son. "So I'm moving on."
