WrestleMania 30 Rumors [VIDEO]: Sting Appearing In New Orleans? Goldberg vs Ryback Not Happening?

With the Jan. 26 Royal Rumble pay-per-view just over a week away, the beginning of the road to WrestleMania XXX at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on April 6 is within reach and reports indicate that the WWE has continued to talk to Steve "Sting" Borden about possibly jumping ship from TNA while it seems like their talks with Goldberg are dead.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, the WWE has been talking to Sting about possibly joining them for a WrestleMania match as they have done a lot in recent years around this time. Sting hasn't yet renewed his contract with TNA and he is the one man from the old WCW days that WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon hasn't been able to acquire for a match in the WWE.

The WWE has tried for years to lure Sting over to do a WrestleMania match, but the company has never been able to land him despite coming close on a few occasions. The rumored opponent for Sting has been The Undertaker as he would put his undefeated WrestleMania streak on the line against Sting in a special attraction dream match that wrestling fans have been pining for in recent years. With Sting and 'Taker getting older, the window for such a match is closing.

The Undertaker is rumored to be taking on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX as Lesnar will use his match against The Big Show at the Royal Rumble as a way to build him up to go after the dead man's streak. The WWE had feared that 'Taker may not be able to wrestle such a physical match with Lesnar at his age, but that is currently the plan if the company can't court Sting.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Goldberg's rumored match against Ryback may be scrapped as the two sides are still far apart on the money that the WWE is willing to pay Goldberg for a one-off match. The WWE reportedly met with Goldberg a few months ago but were turned off when they found out that his demand for an appearance was "very significant."

A Goldberg and Ryback match has been rumored for months since Goldberg would like to have his son see him wrestle one more match, but he wasn't a fan of the WWE's bargaining tactics when they met last month and Goldberg even said they were "barking up the wrong tree" by telling him to "think of the pop you'll get" if he returned for WrestleMania.

Ryback has a lot of backstage heat on him lately and may not be used in a high-profile match on the card if talks with Goldberg continue to go south. Reports indicate that the match is viewed as close to dead but not totally ruled out. Ryback talked about wanting to face Goldberg on a radio showin November.

"I have a great amount of respect for Bill Goldberg, but I'm not going to beat around the bush and say I wanna be best friends with the guy," he said on the Felger & Mazz Radio Show in November, according to CBS. "I'd like to face him in the ring. I've heard him say he's not happy with comments I've made about him, if he has a problem with it let's settle it at WrestleMania

The WWE continues to make plans for WrestleMania XXX, but it remains to be seen if WCW staples Sting and Goldberg will be a part of it.
