Pete Carroll Better Coach Than John Fox? Carroll Asked for Opinion on Medical Marijuana, But Fox Not Quoted [VIDEO]

The Seattle Seahawks have an early lead over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVII - in giving out coaching wisdom.

The stigma of marijuana use can't hold the NFL hostage, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says. Apparently, none of the media bothered to ask Denver Broncos coach John Fox his opinion on the subject.

During a press conference Monday to kick off Super Bowl week, Carroll spoke to the media in Jersey City, N.J., and was asked about NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's comments that the league would consider the use of medical marijuana if medical experts determine that it would benefit players with head trauma.

Carroll said that the legalization of medical marijuana enforces the notion that benefits exists, and the NFL would be wise to follow medicine's lead in determining the effects of the drug.

"We have to continue to explore and compete to find ways that are going to make our game a better game and take care of our players in the best way possible," Carroll said, as reported by CBSSports.com. "The fact that it's in the world of medicine is obviously something (Goodell) realizes and him making the expression that we need to follow the information and the research absolutely I'm in support of. Regardless of what other stigmas may be involved, I think we have to do this because the world of medicine is trying to do the exact same thing and figure it out and they're coming to some conclusions."

According to CBSSports.com, the NFL probably wouldn't go beyond the exploratory stage until medical marijuana becomes legal in every state in which an NFL team resides.

No reports surfaced with quotes from Fox about the NFL's exploration of the subject.

Denver Broncos defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, however, said the league must be wary of its actions.

"I think with something like that, it may be helpful, but it is also something that can be abused," Knighton said, according to NFL.SI.com. "So I think that's why it's banned and that's why it's on the list, because it can be abused and it can backfire. It's a touchy subject, but whatever is best, they'll figure it out."
