Kyrie Irving To Knicks? Cavaliers All-Star Set To Fire Agent, Force His Way To New York? [VIDEO]

The New York Daily News is reporting Cleveland star guard Kyrie Irving is close to firing agent Jeff Wechsler and has an eye on making his way back home to play for the Knicks.

According to the Daily News, part of the reason behind the expected split between Irving and Wechsler is because the agent wants him to remain in Cleveland. A West Orange, N.J. native, Irving, 21, has made little secret of his fondness for the NYC area.

Several media outlets have reported Irving has been telling confidantes he wants out of Cleveland and the Akron Beacon Journal recently quoted him saying of the Cavs struggles "I needed this. It was more or less a wake-up call."

In a season where they expected to compete for a Central Division title, the Cavs have struggled to a 16-31 start and are currently in fourth place in the division. Overall, in the Eastern Conference, Cleveland stands as the No. 11 seed and if the playoffs started today they would miss the postseason.

For Irving, it's been another strong season--- at least statistically speaking. Voted an Eastern Conference starter in this month's All-Star game, Irving is averaging 22 points and six assists.
