Kevin Durant has little love for his new "Slim Reaper" nickname.
"I'm here to shine a bright light," Durant told ProBasketballTalk.com. said. "I'm not here to be a guy of, I guess, death. I just like KD better. That name is what it is. It's cool to have a nickname somebody else gave to you. It's kind of weird if you make your own nickname up. But to have that out there, I guess, is cool...Everybody's been loving the name. I think I'm the only one that really doesn't like it too much."
Everyone seemingly can agree Durant's recent display of offensive brilliance has been lethal on opposing defenses. The Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward has averaged 37 points per game over his last 13, including a stretch of straight games where he netted at least 30 points.
With All-star guard Russell Westbrook still sidelined by a knee injury, Durant has more than keep the Thunder afloat, leading them to ten wins in their last 11 games and the league's best overall record.
Now in his seventh season, the league's top scorer is also averaging eight rebounds and five assists while shooting 42 percent on 3-pointers.
