Derek Jeter retirement news: Albert Pujols call retiring Yankees' star 'close to God' [VIDEO]

Albert Pujols deems retiring New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter as close to God as one can get.

"On and off field, he's the way you want your kids to grow up," Jeter told USA Today Sports. "Only Jesus is perfect, but he's pretty close to that guy."

After 19 seasons all in a Yankees' uniform, Jeter announced on Wednesday this will be the final season of his Hall of fame bound career. The news sent Yankee Stadium ticket prices soaring and sparked a wave of tributes to him the likes of the one voiced by the Angels slugger.

Going into this season, the five-time World series champ and 13-time All-Star has rapped out 3,316 hits and composed a .312 career batting average.

Known as "Captain Clutch and Mr. November," Jeter is five-time gold glove winner and a former American League Rookie of the Year award winner.Having played in more than 2,600 games, Jeter also has scored 1,860 runs, stolen 348 bases and driven in 1,261 runs.

Revered as a NYC legend, Jeter has also dated such beauties as Jordanna Brewster, Jessica Biel, Lara Duta, Minka Kelly, Joy Enriquez and Vanessa Minnillo.
