Aaron Hernandez murder case update: Boston grand jury hears evidence against NFL vet in 2012 double-slaying, indictment coming? [VIDEO]

A Boston grand jury continues to hear testimony concerning Aaron Hernandez's suspected role in a 2012 double-slaying in Boston that remains unsolved.

FoxBoston.com reports the panel was empowered eight-months ago to weigh evidence alleging the former New England Patriots tight end was the triggerman in a drive-by shooting that left two local men dead and if he should be formally indicted for it.

"It's common knowledge within criminal law circles and outside criminal law circles that it's very easy to obtain an indictment," Boston-based attorney David Yannetti told Fox, seemingly hinted that he suspects the former NFL star already jailed on first degree murder charges in the killing of Odin Lloyd faces a similar fate in this case.

According to Fox, Suffolk County prosecutors first began presenting the double murder case to the grand jury back in July. Since that time, dozens connected to Hernandez have reportedly been called to testify before the grand jury, including a relative of Hernandez linked to the suspected murder weapon.

Some have intimated the investigation's slow pace perhaps suggests the case may have hit a snag. Yannetti counters it's more likely prosecutors are methodically exploring every possible angle of the case, and using the grand jury system to force witnesses to talk.

"It could be that, you know, they're continuing to use the grand jury as an investigative tool to subpoena witnesses and subpoena documentation to gather further evidence," said Yannetti..

Meanwhile, Hernandez remains jailed without bail and relegated to solitary confinement in the Lloyd slaying. He is expected to go on trial later this year.
