Danny Granger news: San Antonio Spurs chasing veteran forward, Philly buyout looming? [VIDEO]

Danny Granger is on the San Antonio Spurs' radar if he is bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Spurs are in a fight with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the top-seed in the Western Conference and landing a veteran like Granger to add to a rotation that already includes Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili and Kawhi Leonard is favorably looked upon by the team.

After spending all nine of his NBA years with the Indiana Pacers, Granger was dealt to the Sixers at last week's trade deadline in a deal that landed the Pacers Evan Turner. Philly coach Brett Brown recently told Sports Illustrated the organization will soon make a decision about Granger, who has yet to officially join the team.

The 30-year-old Granger made no secret of his unhappiness with being dealt from the Eastern conference frontrunning Pacers to the woeful Sixers. Granger has averaged eight points and four assists this season and 18 points and five rebounds over his career.

With Ginobili, Leonard and Parker having now all missed significant time with varying injuries, the Spurs have dealt with strife throughout the season and view Granger has quality insurance.
