Uruguay National Team Roster: Projected Starting 11, 28-Man World Cup Roster Too Old To Win?

Uruguay was the surprise team of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Led by head coach Oscar Tabarez, La Celeste reached the semifinals of the tournament before ultimately bowing out to the Netherlands. On Tuesday, Tabarez named the 28 men who will have the opportunity to build on that performance.

Some of the world's greatest talents will be representing the two-time World Cup champion in Brazil, including Europe's leading scorer, Luis Suarez (31). Other notable names include Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani, Galatasaray's Fernando Muslera and the leading goalscorer in the 2010 World Cup, Diego Forlan (5).

Midfielders: Alejandro Silva (Lanus), Alvaro Gonzalez (Lazio), Alvaro Pereira (Sao Paulo), Walter Gargano (Parma), Egidio Arevalo Rios (Morelia), Diego Perez (Bologna), Sebastian Eguren (Palmeiras), Cristian Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid), Gaston Ramirez (Southampton), Nicolas Lodeiro (Botafogo)

The projected starting XI is as follows (4-4-2): Muslera; Cáceres, Godín, Lugano, Pereira; Rodriguez, Lodeiro, Rios, Stuani; Cavani, Suarez

The aging of some of Uruguay's key contributors—Lugano (33), Rios (32) and Forlan (34)—remains a concern for Tabarez, but the strike partnership of Suarez and Cavani is still one of the deadliest in international football.
