Not having a permanent manager in place hasn't kept Manchester United from participating in the rumor mill.

With an aging back-line and an ineffective defensive midfield, the Red Devils have reportedly decided to bolster elsewhere, neglecting the issues that have plagued their season. Per the Metro, Paris Saint-Germain striker is Edinson Cavani is eyeing a move to Manchester United after falling out with manager Laurent Blanc. The 27-year-old has seen a dip in form this season, dropping his league productivity from 29 goals to 16.
Simply attributing his lessened productivity to a change in scenery, however, overlooks the combating issues he faces with his French manager.

Cavani has admitted to close friends United would be the "perfect fit" for his services, but they won't be the only ones vying for them.
Soccerly reported Monday that Arsenal—a North London club notorious for window shopping rather than actual shopping—are preparing a $90 million bid to acquire Cavani. Such a fee would obliterate the club record transfer fee set by Mesut Ozil just 10 months ago. For manager Arsene Wenger, the seed of wooing of the Uruguayan striker was planted in January (h/t to the Guardian). "Cavani is a player that I like," Wenger said.
"Will he cost a lot of money? That's for sure. Nobody would deny that," he added.
"[But] our banker lives just next to me at the moment and he is ready if we find the right player."
For Arsenal, Cavani is the "right player," but for Cavani, Arsenal is the "perfect fit."
Unlike Manchester United, the Gunners will benefit from playing UEFA Champions League football next season. Arsenal can also provide Cavani the opportunity to be the missing piece to the Premier League title hopes. He would serve as just one of the many pieces required to bring Manchester United back to relevancy in 2014, and there's no guarantee the club will be able to acquire them all.
If the Red Devils have any hopes of keeping Cavani from North London, an astronomical figure may be required.
