Cruz Azul Transfer News: Marco Fabian's Future Determined After World Cup 2014, Gerardo Flores, Pablo Barrera To Chivas Guadalajara?

Despite having a stellar campaign in 2014, Marco Fabian's future at Cruz Azul remains in doubt. The 24-year-old made 15 appearances for La Maquina this past season, creating 13 chances and finishing seven of his own. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to solidify his place in Mexico City.

Marco Fabian Gaining Interest From German Club?

At least not until after the World Cup.

Cruz Azul president Guillermo Alvarez made it abundantly clear that he appreciated Fabian's efforts this year, but no decision on a permanent transfer would be made until after the World Cup.

Marco Fabian Continues To Focus On Mexican National Team

"He had a great season. I'd like to make him one part of what makes us a club here [at Cruz Azul]. There were times he made the difference and scored the match-winning goal," Alvarez told Evania Garcia (via Tiempo Real). "Those are the things that you have to weigh out, which players help in determining the position or form of the club. It's a plus when they help the group," he added.

"[In regard to his future], we're going to wait until after the World Cup. There are things that are floating around, speculations and all that does is distract the player."

When asked about the impending futures of Gerardo "Jerry" Flores and Pablo Barrera, Alvarez added, "No. [I haven't received any formal offers]. There have been speculations, including open interest. If there was someone willing to negotiate, we'd be open to having discussions. But at this moment in time, we have to solidify the base of this club."
