Sting WWE Rumors: Negotiations Going Slow, WWE Offers Legends Contract To Wrestling Icon [VIDEO]

In what has to be the slowest negotiations of a wrestling contract in history, former WCW and TNA icon Steve "Sting" Borden has yet to officially sign on with the WWE after months of talking, and the company has offered him a similar contract to a Legends deal.

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, word came out this week that the WWE has offered Sting a $10,000 deal that is basically a Legends contract and doesn't have any other guarantees. Talks between both sides have been said to be going smoothly, but no final deal has been struck yet between the two sides.

The WWE and Sting are still in negotiations, and it is currently uncertain what the holdup is with the talks this time, but as of now Sting has not officially signed on to come into the WWE.

Backstage News On Seth Rollins' Heel Turn

It has been speculated that the WWE wants the former six-time WCW Champion and four-time TNA Champion to compete in one more match, and that it would likely occur at WrestleMania 31 in the Bay Area at Levi's Stadium.

It is unknown if Sting will return to in-ring action and wrestle a WWE match for the first time in his career at the event, but it appears to be something that the WWE hopes to promote. There have also been reports that the WWE was thinking about inducting Sting into the 2015 Hall of Fame due to his ties to California.

As for an opponent for WrestleMania 31, with the event still being nine months away, it is unclear who Sting would face. The obvious choice would be The Undertaker, but now that he lost The Streak at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans to Brock Lesnar, it is unknown if he'll be returning for another match.

With The Undertaker's streak gone and him suffering injuries against Lesnar, there has been some speculation that he may retire and that WrestleMania XXX may have been his final match.

Sting was rumored to face 'Taker in New Orleans, but the WWE didn't see signing Sting as a priority and opted to throw Lesnar in there against him instead. Sting and the WWE have been in ongoing negotiations for the legend to come in, and he's already been doing some things for the WWE Network, but nothing has been officially signed.

It remains to be seen if Sting will join the WWE as an active competitor, but the negotiations are still ongoing.
