Ed Reed Says Goodbye To Baltimore With Ad

All-Pro safety Ed Reed said goodbye to fans of the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday with a full-page ad in the Baltimore Sun, thanking the city and the fans for supporting him for 11 seasons. Reed signed a three-year, $15 million contract to join the Houston Texans on Friday, marking the first time Reed has been a member of any team other than the Ravens.

In the ad, Reed says his in Baltimore was "more than I would have ever imagined, which is why I have such deep love for you all. I will forever cherish my time with the Ravens and the chills that ran down my spine when I finally kissed the Lombardi Trophy." He also said "this is not goodbye, but a See You Soon."

Baltimore will host the Texans next season on a date yet to be determined. The 2013 NFL schedule is expected to be announced sometime next month.

Reed was the latest departure for the Super Bowl champion Ravens who have seen several players depart. Former all-pro Linebacker Ray Lewis and center Matt Birk opted for retirement after the team's championship win.

Anquan Boldin was traded to the 49ers at the start of the free agency period before Baltimore watched as linebackers Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe and cornerback Cary Williams signed with other teams. Safety Bernard Pollard was cut by Baltimore before signing with the Titans last week.
