Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler has been the subject of trade talks since the offseason has begun. As the NHL Draft inches closer, the talks are that the Canucks will attempt to trade Kesler, but he will only approve if he ends up in Pittsburgh or Chicago.
According to the Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch, Kesler is sold on either being a member of the Chicago Blackhawks or the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he also believes that the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning are on Kesler’s short list.
The odds of Kesler being dealt to Chicago are slim due to the lack of cap space the Blackhawks possess and any deal would require the Canucks to eat some of Kesler's salary. The Penguins are an interesting option as Vancouver would prefer to send Kesler to the Eastern Conference. The Penguins would have to part with some scoring if they are to acquire Kesler and the player in question would depend on the Canucks preference.
Kesler has spent his entire 10-year career in Vancouver and had 43 points in 77 games played last season.
