Wimbledon 2014: Novak Djokovic Injures Shoulder Vs. Gilles Simon; Djoker Returns, Expected to Finish Match

Wimbledon’s No.1 seed Novak Djokovic was shaken up during his match with Gilles Simon Friday with a shoulder injury before returning to action soon after. This is the latest injury scare for Djokovic considering he suffered a wrist injury prior to the start of Wimbledon that many feared would end his campaign.

Djokovic is the favorite to win it all at the All England Club despite losing the French Open to Rafael Nadal weeks prior. Djokovic appeared to land on the shoulder awkwardly and was worked on by the training staff for a short time before returning to the match.

At the time of his fall, Djokovic was leading 6-4, 6-2, 3-2 and in full control of the match. If he can remain injury free for the rest of the tournament, Djokovic looks to be the best player in the field through five days and a safe bet to make the Wimbledon finals.

Djokovic has one Wimbledon title to his name from a thrilling 2011 match against Rafael Nadal in which he won 6–4, 6–1, 1–6, 6–3.
