Ann Coulter Soccer Articles: World Cup Popularity Sign of 'Moral Decay' In U.S., American 'Fetish' [VIDEO]

The United States Men’s National Team provided us with a crazy ride that ended when the team lost to Belgium in the World Cup. The nation-wide patriotism was a breath of fresh air to many, but also an opportunity to spread a negative light on soccer as well. Ann Coulter is one such person who believes that soccer has been bad for the world and represents a terrible set of ideals.

Coulter wrote a pair of columns that described soccer as a “girl’s game” and that the only time there is genuine risk is when ““when some Third World peasant goes on a murderous rampage after a bad call.” Coulter has felt backlash from all angles including her own political party in the form of Rush Limbaugh.

Coulter's attacks on the sport have been offensive to many other nations that celebrate it. She went on to call the brief rise in popularity in the United States as a sign of “moral decay” within the United States.

Coulter cites the fact that players can’t use their hands, low scores including 0-0 games, and it's foreign origin as reasons it should not be celebrated

In Coulter’s last paragraph of the article she leaves us with a sign that immigration is the root of the issue and that soccer is nothing more than a “fetish.”

“If more "Americans" are watching soccer today, it's only because of the demographic switch effected by Teddy Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.”
