Former WWE Superstar CM Punk hasn't appeared in the WWE since January, but the "Best in the World" was still included in the WWE 2K15 video game while it is said that his inclusion in the game has no bearings on a potential future return.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Punk being included in the game has no bearing on his relationship with the WWE and things are still said to be "worse than ever" between the two sides following Punk's contract officially expiring last month.

The design of the game and the rivalries mode that features Punk vs. John Cena were devised and set over a year ago, so the WWE had no way of changing the game without completely removing the rivalries mode, leading to the WWE opting to keep Punk in it.

Sources have said over the last few months that the WWE and Punk have had "little to no communication" since Punk walked out on the company in January, so those hoping that Punk will make a return and a new deal will be in place based on Punk's inclusion in the game will surely be disappointed.

Punk hasn't been an active WWE competitor since he walked out on the company in January prior to a live Monday Night RAW telecast on the night after the Royal Rumble.

Punk walked out on the company due to his ongoing frustration over how his character was being booked and due to being burned out from the constant travel schedule. Following his contract expiring, it was said that things between Punk and the WWE were worse than ever even though his wife AJ Lee returned to the company in June and currently holds the Divas Championship.

The "Best in the World" has enjoyed many outside ventures since leaving, including various television appearances while he's also popped up at his hometown Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks games.

Since his schedule has cleared up, Punk was able to appear at the AP Music Awards last month where he said he was "never ever" returning to the WWE, and he also worked at Comic Con in San Diego on behalf of Nerdist, during which he said on his Twitter account that he hasn't had "this much fun in a long time."

Punk's longtime manager Paul Heyman recently said that Punk was done with wrestling and that he was under the impression that even if Punk wanted to come back, the WWE wouldn't allow it.

Punk was the one who chose to leave the WWE and doesn't have any desire to come back while it seems as though the company's interest in the "Best in the World" is gone, despite his inclusion in WWE 2K15.
