Cruz Azul Transfer Rumors: Marco Fabian Not Moving To Europe, 'Concentrating On Cruz Azul'

Marco Fabian's ambitions to feature in Europe took a massive blow after Cruz Azul rejected a transfer bid from German outfit VfB Stuttgart (via Fox Sports' Ruben Rodriguez). With just over 15 days remaining in the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old is ready to close that chapter in his life.

At an unveiling for his newly organized football academy in Guadalajara, Fabian pledged his allegiance to Cruz Azul for the remainder of the 2014 Apertura season. In typical fashion, he wasn't prepared to close the door on Europe, either. "Right now, it's a fact: We close this chapter [on VfB Stuttgart]," he told the Mexican press (via ESPN Deportes). "But there's 15 days left to negotiate in Europe and in football anything can happen."

In the very next breath, Fabian reaffirmed his dedication to his current club.

"But it's a fact: We close this chapter," he added. "Today, I'm 100 percent concentrated on Cruz Azul, to push forward this tournament and give the supporters the title they desperately want."

Admittedly, Stuttgart were not the only side interested in landing the services of the Mexican international. Despite that, Fabian remained thankful to the Cruz Azul and Guadalajara brass for supporting him during this trying time.

"These last few days, so many things have happened." he said. "For me, it's a compliment that teams like Stuttgart and many European clubs are following my progress. The truth is, it matters to me and I thank the clubs."

"I am very grateful with the directors of Chivas and Cruz Azul," he added. "I have nothing against them. In fact, they've supported me throughout. I live in the now. My contract is with Cruz Azul. Yes, I have the dream of going to Europe. I am 25-years-old. I have no obsession to go."

"I will not lose faith, and I'm very calm."

If Fabian hopes to live out his dream of featuring in Europe, he'll need to return to form for Cruz Azul. Maintaining the interest of foreign clubs is increasingly difficult with age and dwindling form.
