The Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks have one of the best rivalries in the NHL, dating back to the dawn of the league. The Red Wings will play the Blackhawks in the last year of Detroit's presence in the Western Conference. The only time they will ever meet in the playoffs after this year will be in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Blackhawks are coming off an easy series win over the Minnesota Wild, winning in five games, while Detroit needed seven games to eliminate the Anaheim Ducks.
The Blackhawks swept the regular season series against the Red Wings, but three of the four games went to overtime and two of those games went to shootouts. The only game between these teams that wasn't close was when the Blackhawks crushed the Red Wings 7-1.
The Blackhawks earned the Presidents' Trophy for the best record in the regular season. They started the shortened season with at least one point in the first 24 games.
Along with Pittsburgh, the Blackhawks seem to be the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, and with such a close series, this one will be sure to go down to the wire.
