Scott Boras-Jay-Z Feud Update: Boras Client Matt Harvey Asked If He Meant To Hit Jay-Z Client Robinson Cano During All-Star Game

It would have made for great reality television, but apparently it wasn't scripted.

USA Today is reporting that New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey didn't intentionally hit New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano on Tuesday night during the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

That the pitch that got away from Harvey and hit Cano in the thigh in the first inning was even questioned shows the animosity of the growing feud between agents Scott Boras and Jay-Z.

According to USA Today, Harvey is one of Boras' clients. In a well-publicized spectacle, Cano left Boras to sign with Jay-Z's Roc Nation agency earlier in the season. Cano arguably will be the top free agent in the market after the season and could command as much as $200 million, USA Today reported.

USA Today reported added that "Harvey said he wasn't trying to instigate any hard feelings between agents, crosstown rivals or leagues."

"We had called fastball in there. I knew I had to get it inside but obviously I didn't want to get it in that much," Harvey said. "Once I let it go, I could kinda feel it. I cut it a little bit, so I was hoping he was going to be able to get out of the way. But unfortunately, he didn't. It definitely was not intentional."

Cano also refused to believe that Harvey hit him on purpose.

"He was just trying to throw a cutter in and got a little too far inside," USA Today reported Cano as saying. "When I was coming off the field, he said 'my bad' and I said 'no problem.' I know he don't want to hit nobody. That's just part of the game.

"As hard as he throws, at least it wasn't 98 (mph). It was 92 and luckily it hit the quad."

Harvey, starting in front of his hometown fans, gave up a double to the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout on the game's first pitch before facing Cano.
