New Samsung Ad Features Lionel Messi, Eddie Lacy, And Other Famous Athletes As Avengers [VIDEO]

The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters Friday, and many box office prognosticators predict that it will be one of the highest selling movies of all time. Two billion dollars in ticket receipts is fully within range for the superhero flick. Chances are good you'll probably already have seen it before you even read this article.

Befitting a new movie release of that magnitude, the film's plot has lent itself to homage in a brand new Samsung Galaxy 6S commercial.

In the Samsung commercial, the Avengers gang is recast via a group of famous pro athletes. Barcelona and Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi, Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy, surfer John John Florence, and Tour de France cyclist Fabian Cancellara all make appearances. Two lucky fans, a fourth grader named Bobby Martinez and a Swiss engineer names Sasha Blanc, were also chosen to star in the advertisement.

It was directed by Marc Webb, of The Amazing Spider-Man and (500) Days of Summer fame.

Entitled "Assemble," the new spot runs four minutes long, fairly hefty for a commercial—even for an on-line one. Also, the video is distinguished as just 'Part 1' of a larger series, so expect more exciting commercials with these famous faces later on.
