Geno Smith Sucker Punch: Jared 'Hefty Lefty' Lorenzen Wants To Sign With The Jets [VIDEO]

As if Geno Smith missing as many as 10 weeks with a broken jaw wasn't enough, piling onto the Jets' misery is Jared Lorenzen's desire to return to New York. Like most respectable journalism these days, Lorenzen took to Twitter to make his proclamation. The tweet—complete with a nauseating image of the 315-pounder in a River Monsters uniform—was enough to make even the biggest Geno Smith critic cringe.

Lorenzo spent four seasons with the Giants, earning a ring as Eli Manning's backup in Super Bowl XLII. His last appearance in an NFL uniform came in 2008, failing to make the Colts roster.

Now 34, Lorenzen plys his trade in the Continental Indoor Football League. After spending a season with the Owensboro Rage, the man they call "Hefty Lefty" made his triumphant return to the River Monsters in 2013.

Much like his clothing line, Throwboy Tees, indoor football credentials are a tough sell.

Unfortunately for the Jets, a more cogent plan is yet to be put in place.

Tyler Thigpen was scheduled to work out with the team on Friday, per a league source close to ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini. Not two hours later, those plans were scratched.

As of now, New York's only viable option at QB remains Ryan Fitzpatrick, a blessing in disguise, according to USA Today's Mike Foss.

"At 32, Fitzpatrick is hardly the franchise quarterback the Jets hope to have in Smith, but he could very well be the best fit if New York wants to win now," Foss said, per FTW. "Fitzpatrick outperformed Smith in 2014, throwing for three more touchdowns (17) and five fewer interceptions (8) than the starter."

Continuing the theme, at 225, he also carries 90 fewer pounds than his "Hefty Lefty" counterpart. Always a plus when considering the most important position in all of sports.
