Matchups matter in fantasy sports, but especially in daily fantasy leagues such as DraftKings and FanDuel. This week, here are three QBs who will light up the stat sheet, and three passers that will bust.
Great Plays
Andrew Luck, Colts ($7,800): Luck has been disappointing thus far, throwing too many picks and not enough touchdowns in the face of constant blitzes. Luck turned on the jets in the fourth quarter last week, however, and this week gets to torture a Jaguars defense that just gave up 51 points to the Patriots.

On top of the cushy matchup, the Colts have lessened Andre Johnson’s role, and given more burn to rookie WR Phillip Dorsett. Luck will have a big game—he’s just not cheap.
Derek Carr, Raiders ($5,300): Carr has thrown for 300-plus yards in back-to-back weeks, as well as multiple touchdown passes. This week, he gets a Bears defense that is not only bad, it’s playing with the specter of a firesale hovering over their heads. LBs Jared Allen and John Bostick have already been traded, so it’s hard to believe anyone on the Bears is going to be very focused.
DraftKings Best Buys At Every Spot For Week 4
With Amari Cooper looking legit, and Michael Crabtree providing an upgrade and deepening the receiving corps, this offense actually looks good.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jets ($5,100): You can laugh, but Fitzpatrick has yet to throw fewer than two touchdowns in a game this season. He’s also thrown at least one interception in every game – three vs. the Eagles on Sunday – but the Dolphins have been a mess defensively. Brandon Marshall’s presence in this offense has made everything easier for the “Amish Rifle.”
Busts
Russell Wilson, Seahawks ($7,100): Wilson will be okay in this one, but the Lions are desperate for a victory, and haven’t been that far from a few wins during their 0-3 start. This game will feature a lot of running the football, and if Wilson gets more than two scores that would be a surprise. He’s a little pricy, and lesser-regarded QBs are available for a cheaper price with better matchups.
Michael Vick, Steelers ($5,000): The temptation is there. For $5,000, you can have a starting QB with Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown at his disposal, and you’re supposed to pass?
In this case, yes. Vick hasn’t been given enough time to get this offense down, and the Ravens, at 0-3, are going to play like bats out of hell. On Thursday night, Vick is a clear stay-away.
Kirk Cousins, Redskins ($5,400): Cousins is not what most people would call careful with the football, and the Eagles defense returned to its roots, picking off Fitzpatrick three times. This is what the Philadelphia defense does, and more turnovers are coming against Cousins, who will likely be without DeSean Jackson once again.
