Texans Fans Burn Matt Schaub Jerseys: Organization To Penalize Future Pyros For Violating Open Flame Policy? [VIDEO]

The Houston Texans are taking steps to protect beleaguered quarterback Matt Schaub after frustrated fans begain setting his jersey on fire following last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

According to TMZ, team officials are set to begin penalizing fans who burn Schaub's No. 8 jersey on team grounds. As much as protecting Schaub from all the criticism, the website reports management is also concerned with tailgaters who have began setting the jerseys ablaze in the team's parking lot or outside the stadium, a direct violation of the stadium's open flame policy.

Schaub has thrown six interceptions over the team's first four games, including a game-changing one to Richard Sherman that he returned 58 yards for a score, in the team's 23-20 overtime loss to the Seahawks. Schaub has now thrown an NFL record three interceptions returned for touchdowns over the last three games.

TMZ reports one fan purchased Schaub's $200 jersey, just for the purposes of returning to Reliant Stadium to burn it with all the other outraged fans.

Things won't get any easier for Schaub and the Texans this weekend when they face the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers on the road.
