Adrian Peterson Son Critical Condition: Two-Year-Old 'Not Expected To Survive' Savage Beating, Joseph Robert Patterson Arrested, Charged [VIDEO]

Adrian Peterson's two-year-old son is "not expected to survive his injuries" and could soon be taken off life support , Deadspin.com reports.

The NFL's reigning MVP's toddler son was found savagely beaten in his Sioux Falls, South Dakota home on Wednesday. Sioux Falls police have charged Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, the child's mother's boyfriend, with aggravated assault and aggravated assault on an infant. He is being held without bond.

Deadspin reports the child in question is not Adrian Peterson Jr., but a "secret" love child the Minnesota Vikings star had with a woman who recently moved from Minnesota to Sioux Falls with child, maintaining little to no contact with Peterson.

Multiple news outlets reported EMTs were called to the boy's home on Wednesday and found him suffering from injuries that an examination later found were "consistent with abuse." Initially, the boy reportedly was also unresponsive and suffering from massive head injuries.

According to police, the relationship between Patterson and the boy's mother was "fairly new," and they had just moved in with him. Patterson is scheduled to appear in court later this morning.

Peterson missed practice on Thursday, and was reported to be in Sioux Falls attending to a "very serious medical issue involving a family member." Peterson is expected to return to the Vikings sometime on Friday.
