Ana Ivanovic Relationship Update: Bastian Schweinsteiger Will Benefit Most From Tennis Star's New Workout Plan [VIDEO]

Ana Ivanovic is hitting the gym in an attempt to regain her No. 1 ranking, but it's her boyfriend, Bastian Schweinsteiger, who will reap the most benefits.

Ivanovic -- who's ranked 16th in the world by the WTA -- embarked on a grueling workout regimen this past offseason in an attempt to strengthen her injured back. More force in her movement is the ultimate goal.

"It's the most lunges I've done in my life," Ivanovic said, per Perthnow.com. "In the beginning I was smiling while doing them, but after a while I was trying to hide in corners. After the problems I had last season with my back, I did a lot of prevention work and fitness, I thought that was lacking.

"I am very happy now physically. I've done a lot of strength work in the gym to protect my back, and to be lower in the court. I am a tall girl, so it's not easy to get low. So I did lunges, some interval training, sprints, and lots of two-on-one games with two guys so it was a more intense set-up. I really feel that was good for me."

The Player Who Will Save Louis Van Gaal's Job At Manchester United

It'll be even better for her man if she's open to revealing her tips.

Schweinsteiger's been forced to miss action for Manchester United this season due to injury (adductor). Pep Guardiola -- his former boss at Bayern Munich -- even went as far as claiming the 31-year-old hasn't been match fit in years.

"He is a top, top player," Guardiola said back in August, per Sky Sports. "Unfortunately, during the last three years he was never in good condition."

If Schweinsteiger hopes to change that perception, he'd hit the gym with Ivanovic. She can't do any worse than some of his physios.
