Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are both busy fixing their interim fights for now but the boxing world is more inclined to see how the two middleweight boxers fare when they do meet up thereafter.
Everyone is aware that both camps have not come to an agreement and that there are matters that need to be settled. The most popular of them all is the dreaded catchweight that Alvarez is asking for at 155 lbs.

Right now, both camps haven’t really talked about it in depth but if this report from Boxingscene.com is any indication, it seems that Alvarez is not going to budge with his stance.
Alvarez reiterates that he has learned his lesson the last time around. That was in reference to his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. where he was forced to trim down to 152 in 2013.

Mayweather won that fight handily and it was one of the poorest showings that Alvarez has had to date. It was from there that Alvarez decided to stick to 155, a weight which he is comfortable with.
But the problem is that Golovkin is not required to heed to that clause since he is a mandatory challenger. The WBC is unlikely to give in as well to that catchweight call.
With that in mind, there is a possibility that Alvarez could end up being stripped of the WBC title and Golovkin will be crowned full champion by default.
"This fight has to happen at some point, at whatever weight. There was a time where I had to give things up in order to have these big fights. I am now at a point where I don't have to give advantages to anyone. I believe this fight has to happen. It is necessary to wait until the moment [to work out the details] and I can see [the fight] happening in the short-term," says Alvarez via ESPN Deportes.
For now it is still early to tell who will give in and who will not. Much of those question/s in mind will likely be answered by the middle of the year after both fighters are done with their respective interim matches.
