Next year, Wilson would be wise to ask Ciara that Seahawks fans and teammates see less of her. This offseason Wilson landed an enormous contract extension (four years, $87.6 million) and his relationship with Ciara, an R&B star, became a weekly storyline largely because the couple publicized they won’t have sex until they get married.

Wilson’s new money and fame rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and drove RB Marshawn Lynch’s agent to angrily tweet about Wilson.

Lynch, unsurprisingly, is unlikely to be retained this offseason unless he agrees to a pay cut. For much of the year the Seahawks were legitimately in danger or missing the playoffs for the first time in Wilson’s tenure. Wilson turned it on during the home stretch, chucking 21 touchdowns and one pick over the final six games of the regular season.

His transition into being a “celebrity QB” seems to be complete based of his run to end the year, but as he has become the focal point of the Seahawks, shedding the persona of being above his teammates has to go. The first step is he and Ciara being a little less publicly affectionate, and doing more to shut down discussion of their lifestyle.
