Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis enters this contest a bit weary as he and his teammates take on his former team of Napoli today in Rome.
''For me this game is going to be different from the rest,'' De Sanctis said to Gazzetta dello Sport. ''I spent four intense years at Napoli. Napoli are much stronger than they were last season and we can expect a difficult game."
Roma is firing on all cylinders, entering today's game on a seven-match win streak while sitting atop the Serie A standings. Boss Rudi Garcia's team has out-scored its opponents 20-1 on its recent run, and had a huge 3-0 win against Inter Milan in the previous round to lift it two points above Napoli and Juventus.
''We are all happy,'' De Sanctis said per ESPN. ''This result is down to the work we started back in July. We have been really focused in our opening seven games and we hope to continue like this.''
Napoli is riding a winning streak of its own, having won two in a row, and has yet to lose a game domestically.
''We are looking forward to our big game against Roma,'' Napoli boss Rafa Benitez said, according to ESPN. ''They are the only side above us in Serie A. It will be a test for us and if we play like I know we can, there is no reason why we cannot win. But we cannot forget that it's early days and that this game is just one of many.''
Napoli will have all hands on deck as strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Raul Albiol are both set to return from muscular injuries, while top scorer Marek Hamsik looks to continue his steady play.
Meanwhile, Roma captain Francesco Totti has recovered from injury and will look to lead the charge along with Alessandro Florenzi.
Each team is riding winning streaks and anything can happen when De Sanctis comes face-to-face with his old team when Roma and Napoli collide this afternoon.
