Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will defend their respective middleweight titles in the coming weeks, and reports revealed the two superstars will likely collide in December.
Golovkin will put his World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organization middleweight titles on the line in his upcoming fight against Dominic Wade on Saturday at the Forum in California.
On the other hand, Alvarez will defend his World Boxing Council middleweight title against British boxing superstar Amir Khan on May 7 at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If both fighters win in their respective next fights, Alvarez will have no other choice but to defend his WBC middleweight title to Golovkin if he wants to keep the belt. Previous reports indicated that Alvarez is unwilling to face Golovkin this year, but WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said that it is unfair to speculate at this point.
"I think it would be disrespectful to speculate on whether or not this fight will happen, especially for the opponents of Golovkin and Canelo," Sulaiman told BoxingScene. "I think these are dangerous fights. They are scheduled to fight and until we know the results of April 23 and May 7, respectively."
Sulaiman added that he also heard about the plans of both camps to stage the bout in December, but reiterated again that he will only reach out to promoters after the respective title defenses of both middleweight superstars.
"Once we get past the results of those fights, we are going to meet with the promoters to find out what their intentions are, if they are actually planning to fight in December as they are saying, but for now we will not disrespect them or their opponents," Sulaiman continued.
It is also worth noting that Eddy Reynoso, Canelo's trainer, said in a recent interview with Los Angeles Times that the fight will eventually happen. The veteran boxing coach also declined to discuss the proposed bout, saying that Alvarez, who has an impressive 46-1-1 record, is focused on his fight against Khan.
