John Cena WWE Return Rumors: Possible Heel Turn Addressed By 'Cenation' Leader [VIDEO]

John Cena is set to return to action sometime soon, and when he does, he'll take his place along with Roman Reigns as one of the most polarizing figures on the roster.

The "Cenation" leader is adored by most children, which makes him the biggest merchandise mover in the company. At the same time, most older members of the WWE Universe can't stand Cena and believe his character is stale and could use a boost.

One popular opinion is that the 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion should turn heel, a role he hasn't played since around 2003. Cena, who set a record for granting Make-A-Wish requests, likely won't turn into a villain due to his role as the face of the WWE and his influence on children.

Still, Cena is constantly asked about turning into a "bad guy" and recently opened up about how he already feels like a heel.

"Look, your job as a superstar is to manipulate the audience and try to tell your story," Cena told RollingStone.com. "I like the dynamic of the audience. Every single night it's different. But what's weird is that I'm a good guy because of all the kids and parents who like me, and a bad guy because I won't turn heel, which actually makes me both good guy and bad guy in one person."

While that won't satisfy his haters, it certainly makes sense. Cena is arguably the most polarizing figure to ever set foot in a WWE ring.

Cena has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since undergoing surgery in January, but isn't ready to return fully just yet. As for when he'll be back, the WWE Superstar didn't offer specifics, but he did say he's making better progress than previously believed.

"It's been two and a half months since the surgery and 107 rehab visits so far," Cena said, "and I'm already doing things they said would take nine months."

Cena's last appearance was at WrestleMania 32 at AT&T Stadium in Texas on April 3, when he helped The Rock take out The Wyatt Family. Though he appeared ready to return, he isn't fully cleared for a comeback, according to The Wrestling Observer (via WrestlingInc).

The face of the WWE is slated to return sometime between May and July, but when he does, it's unlikely he'll be a heel.
