WWE 'No Mercy' 2016 Rumors: Backstage Speculation & Possible Spoilers For 'SmackDown Live' Event [VIDEO]

The "SmackDown Live" brand is gearing up for its second exclusive pay-per-view and WWE Network special.

The blue brand will present No Mercy live from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., on Oct. 9.

Two matches have already been announced as new WWE World Champion AJ Styles will defend his gold against John Cena and Dean Ambrose in a main event Triple Threat Match and Becky Lynch will put her newly won Women's Championship on the line against Alexa Bliss.

Word going around backstage is that The Usos will challenge Rhyno and Heath Slater for their WWE Tag Team Championships and The Miz will defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler, according to The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestlingheadlines.com).

There is a lot of speculation, The Observer reports, that The Usos will defeat Rhyno and Slater at some point, possibly even at No Mercy.

Booking Jimmy and Jey to win the gold would bridge into the return of babyface tandem American Alpha as Chad Gable and Jason Jordan could simultaneously chase the titles and try to gain some revenge from the newly turned heel Usos.

As for Miz and Ziggler, there are rumors the two will go head-to-head in a Steel Cage Match for the Intercontinental Championship, rather than a standard one-on-one bout.

Analysis: This is purely speculation, but it seems highly unlikely the WWE will take the titles off of Styles or Lynch this soon after they just won them. Still, these brand-only events need to make a splash, so it's conceivable Miz and the Rhyno-Slater team, as fun as they are, will drop their titles. Adding a cage stipulation to a midcard match would also be a nice way to boost the significance of the brand-only events if the WWE insists on having them.
