Bucks Acquired Spencer Hawes, Roy Hibbert, Waives Steve Novak

As all the teams are approaching the February 23, 2017 trade deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks started to revamp its line-up by acquiring Spencer Hawes and Roy Hibbert from Charlotte Hornets in exchange for center Miles Plumlee.

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond officially announced the player movements as published by the NBA website. "The trade also gives us future cap flexibility as we continue to shape our roster," Hammond stated during the announcement.

He added that it will also give the 21-27 Bucks depth in their front court. Milwaukee has been relying mostly on Greg Monroe, and just recently, their 19-year old rookie Thon Maker at the center position.

Ironically, it is their guard Giannis Antetokounmpo who is leading the team in rebounds with 8.7 this season.

Hawes is a 7-foot-1 big man with a decent mid-range jumper who can occasionally hit shots from beyond the three-point line. The 10th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft played in 35 games with the Hornets this season, averaging 7.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

On the other hand, Hibbert, currently on his 9th season in the league, is averaging 5.2 points asnd 3.6 boards in his 42 games in Charlotte. The former NBA All-Defensive Second Team member is expected to provide a solid presence under the basket together with his defensive prowess on the other end.

In return, the Hornets is getting a much-needed boost with the arrival of the former Duke University Plumlee. He played 32 games with the Bucks, posting 2.6 points and 1.7 boards per game. The former 26th pick in the 2012 Draft will be joining his fourth team after Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee.

The Bucks also requested waivers on veteran forward Steve Novak. A known three-point specialist, the 33-yr old Novak is holding career averages of 4.7 points built around 43-percent clip from three-point range. He only played eight games with the Bucks this season.
