India Topples Australia in 11-Run Opener of the T20 International

India crushed Australia after gnawing an 11-run opener in the first Twenty20 International at Manuka Oval, Canberra, Australia.

Ravindra Jadeja left an unforgettable mark in the heart of the Australians after striking 44 balls within 23 en route to 161-7 in 20 overs.

The Indian all-rounder suffered a hamstring injury in the early inning, then a concussion from a Mitchell Starc-hit in the 20th over.

India had a lot of saving grace in the place of the injured southpaw, who lifted the inning from the slow start.

Yuzvendra Chahal was substituted for Jadeja before Australian coach Justin Langer yattered on the referee's decision.

The rule in cricket says that it allows an injured player to be substituted after sustaining an injury. In the case of India, Chalal was subbed as Jadeja underwent injury evaluation whether or not he could come back to the game. The instance tapped by India has not violated the rule as a result.

Langer could not accept the immediate substitution of the visiting team, with team captain Aaron Finch on the side because of the leg injury. For the remainder of the game, Langer could not do anything but watch his squad in disappointment behind the Indians.

The Australian captain rubberstamped the Indians at 35-26 earlier. He felt the weight of his injury as he crashed midway and hit a spinning shot past Mohammed Shami.

As stated in the ICC's rules, the field doctor will arrive down the stretch of an over, given that the inning is not yet finished.

Chahal rammed the second inning in a greedy three-wicket-off-25 bowl in front of Finch and D'Arcy Short, whose team fell behind 56 runs.

In the early going, Moises Henriques of the home team trampolined to a 3-22 stunner that edged the Indians for a while. Australia leaned on his perfection off the bat while rolling 30 balls off 20. It turned out to be a disaster when the umpire ruled 'leg before wicket' to him.

Starc, who was involved in the earlier concussion of Jadeja, plucked 32 off two to pace the Australians after an ebbing round.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar, with four overs, was under his radar to batter 0 for 16. Sanju Samson provided a slight lifting aided by KL Rahul's chase mid half going to the last signal.

"This was an amazing feeling. There was no pressure while we were batting. Ten to 15 minutes before I got to know that maybe I will play, so I just came to the ground and warmed up myself. I learned from my ODI mistakes because I gave too much flight, so here I bowled the way Zampa does, where I use the wicket when it is gripping. We thought 150 to 160 was a big target on this wicket," Chalal finished.
