USA midfielder Yunus Musah has shared in detail the time he felt unsafe while playing for Valencia due to its discontented supporters.
The last season was not that pretty for the Spanish club, spending most of the time in danger of getting relegated. The fans were so disappointed with their campaign that they projected their anger on the player themselves.
The 20-year-old revealed the fans' disappointment came to a boiling point in January when they lost to Athletic Bilbao in Copa Del Rey. He said the supporters trapped them in the stadium after the match.
"They didn't let us get out of the stadium that night ... it was unsafe for us to get out. And then my brother came to pick me up in my car. He went to take it from the garage, and then met me at the front gate at the stadium," said Musah who was part of Valencia's youth team and was signed by the senior team in 2020.
"And when I went, I quickly had to run inside the car because there was some fans running at me. When I got in the car, they started throwing things at the car and everything."

Eventually, Valencia was able to turn around the season and prevented getting relegated by finishing in 16th place, just two spots ahead of the relegation.
Reunion with USMNT as a restorative experience
Musah is back with the USA National Team for the CONCACAF Nations League and he called the atmosphere a "restorative experience" he needed.
"I feel like it did some good for me to come here with the national team and prepare for Nations League and everything with the guys, because I haven't even thought about the last part of the season with Valencia while I was here," he said.
