Everybody needs a friend who will go out of his way to defend you from your bashers.

That's what Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes star got in Travis Kelce, who fired more shots toward Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals for comments he deemed disrespectful to his QB.

Kelce appeared on the New Heights podcast and made known his feelings towards Chase, who made a jab on the two-time SuperBowl MVP.

The beef started when Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow praised Mahomes as the best QB in the league, only for Chase to butt in and say his teammate is the best in his position and then quipped, "Pat who?"

Kelce thought such a comment was "a little bold."

"[Mahomes is] a two-time league MVP, two-time Super Bowl MVP. To say 'Pat who' is like. . . It's a little disrespectful," Kelce said in the show. "Pat didn't like it."

Kelce addressed Chase to defend his QB, who also had his own savage reply.

"Shoutout to Ja'Marr Chase for holding it down for his QB, but don't you ever disrespect Pat Mahomes now. If you want to talk your shit, talk your shit, pimp. Just better back it up."

The young rivalry between the Bengals and Chiefs

Some fans think the pettiness between Kelce, Mahomes, and Chase is a bit off, but many also believe this is part of the fun as their teams form a new-age rivalry.

The Bengals and Chiefs have two of the best QBs in the league, which makes for good viewing.

Their recent history is tied, too, as they met two years in a row in the AFC championship.
