The Dallas Mavericks have offered restricted free agent Matisse Thybulle a three-year $33 million sheet, which the player will accept, as per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Being a restricted free agent, his previous team Portland Trail Blazers has the right to match the contract within the next two days to keep the elite defensive guard.

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted the 26-year-old as the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, and he has spent all his career in the City of Brotherly Love until he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers last February.

The 6-foot-5 swingman is still on his rookie-scale contract, making $4.3 million in 2022-23.

One of the best defensive players in the league, the Australian-American was named to the All-NBA Defensive Second Team in 2021 and 2022.

He also became popular during the 2020 NBA bubble after posting vlogs on YouTube showcasing the happenings inside the closed doors of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

Mavericks boost their defense with offseason acquisitions

The Dallas Mavericks have shown their goal of improving their defense by attempting to land Thybulle and successfully acquiring former Celtics forward Grant Williams earlier today via a sign-and-trade deal.

Defense was a major issue for the Mavs last season, as they failed to make the playoffs despite having superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the team.

Dallas finished 11th in the West, out of the play-in picture, with a 38-44 record.
