LeBron James coached his 16-year-old son Bryce's Strive For Greatness AAU team in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) alongside former Lakers teammate Rajon Rondo.

The Lakers superstar was seen drawing up a play and giving instructions during a timeout, sharing a piece of his vast basketball mind.

As expected, the energy in the building went way up as soon as the NBA's all-time leading scorer entered.

Despite the star-studded mentors on the sideline, James' coaching debut did not go as planned. Strive For Greatness came up short against the Florida Rebels, 72-62.

The Nike EYBL was established in 2010 as a basketball circuit composed of AAU teams with players under 17. Several current NBA players have appeared in the youth league during their high school days.

LeBron James and Rajon Rondo: Two of the smartest players ever

LeBron James and Rajon Rondo are widely considered to be among the most intelligent basketball players ever, with their hoop IQ leading their teams to success.

The two were initially rivals in the initial stages of their career, with James playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, while Rondo played for the Boston Celtics. They faced each other in the playoffs four times during the late 2000s and early 2010s.

James and Rondo finally teamed up after both joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018, and they won the 2020 NBA Championship together at the bubble.

Rondo last appeared in the NBA with the Cavaliers in 2022, while James is still going strong as a Laker.
